were granted access only to the
highly confidential information relevant
to the performance of job
duties. Their secondary
goal was to enable designated
departmental employees
to serve
as content editors, while
ensuring that enterprise
standards regarding
Intranet site and page
structure were adhered
to.
hired our Senior Web Developer on contract to provide
web design, application development, and graphic design
for web and print. In total, over 30 Intranet sites
were built, maintained, and upgraded to comply with
newly implemented global standards. Macromedia Dreamweaver
templates with editable regions and CSS were developed
and implemented, allowing designated content editors
to update content using Macromedia Contribute, while
blocking them from modifying the standardized parts
of their sites. Our developer utilized Active Directory
to secure the sites, allowing only those authorized
to access highly confidential data.
While standards and access rights were
a crucial concern for
facility, innovation and
style were critical. To set
each standarized site and
page apart, our developer
created banner graphics for
all pages within each Intranet
site's 2-4 level hierarchy.
Each site's subject matter
was unique, as were the banners
created. A concept was developed
for each site's banners,
and unique banners
for each page were developed
based on this concept, using
Flash and Photoshop.
Our developer also created and upgraded
many ASP.NET, PHP, and ColdFusion applications with
Oracle, MySql, and MS SQL backend databases. Additionally
our developer was also responsible for Project Integration
Management (plan development, execution, and change
control; communication with stakeholders throughout
project site life-cycle); writing JavaScript functions;
performance of various system administration duties
involving Active Directory and IIS on Windows 2000 and
2003; conversion of Word documents and Excel spreadsheets
to Adobe PDF forms with calculation functionality; graphic
design for web and print, and other duties
